Welcome to the Morristown Central School District!

July 31, 2024

Dear Morristown Central School Students, Staff, Parents, and Community Members:

Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed a summer vacation filled with fun and exciting memories with your loved ones. As your Superintendent, I am thrilled to welcome everyone to a new school year with many familiar staff faces and a few new ones who have joined our MCS Team. Over the summer, there were many facility repairs completed, classroom “facelifts,” schedules and documents updated and sent out, many meals prepared, and many purchases sorted and delivered. I want to recognize and thank all the staff who have been working in our Summer School programming. This program has allowed our students to maintain skills, develop social connections, and access additional community resources. The work of our staff provides the foundation for an education that is committed to maximizing our students potential and demonstrates Morristown Central School District’s desire for excellence.

Faculty, staff, and members of the administrative team have been diligently reviewing the needs of the District and students as we begin the 2024-2025 school year. Curriculum and instruction, alongside communication with stakeholders, continue to be at the forefront of our efforts as we reflect on goals and expectations. We have developed a “Chain of Communication” resource for our stakeholders and will be implementing ParentSquare to communicate with families. The ParentSquare company purchased our previous communication platform, Remind and while change is sometimes difficult, we are excited about the many features ParentSquare has to offer. We look forward to increasing and improving our communication with our community.

We are thrilled to welcome back the team from Sweethearts & Heroes this school year as we continue to prioritize growing a compassionate and empathetic school community. We will be expanding our Learn to Lead Program through the BRAVES Program with an additional round of student leaders who will focus on student empowerment, empathy activation, and the SEL core competencies. We are committed to providing a rigorous and content-rich learning environment, along with the promotion of self awareness and respect of one’s self and others.

My mission as your Superintendent is to maintain and grow a rigorous teaching and learning environment that provides every student with a sense of belonging, while helping students to grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially.  It is critical to every student's success that they graduate from high school with the skills necessary to pursue and achieve their goals and dreams.

I want to personally invite you to attend our Back-to-School Bash (B2SB) and Open House on Tuesday, September 3rd, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. We are very excited to once again be able to provide school supplies to our students at no cost to families. School supplies will be located in classrooms at our B2SB and Open House event. This will be a great time to meet teachers and other families and learn about the upcoming school year. I hope to see you there!

I am looking forward to the start of the new school year and having our students and staff return to the building. The first day of school is Thursday, September 5th!

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to me.

Sincerely, Staci A. Vaughn
