Welcome to the Morristown Central School District!
July 6, 2020
Dear Morristown Central School Students, Staff, Parents, and Community Members:
Welcome to another new school year! The 2020-2021 school year promises to be a unique one as we work towards a re-opening plan that returns our students to the building but keeps health and safety at the forefront of all decisions. I would like to take this opportunity to say I am honored and very excited to be your Superintendent of Schools.
I look forward to meeting the students, staff, and community members of MCS in person, but until then I wanted to tell you a little about myself. I grew up in the Thousands Islands and after graduation went to undergraduate college in Cazenovia, graduate school in Albany, and then at St. Lawrence with a focus in School Psychology and Educational Leadership. For the last 12 years, I worked at Lisbon Central School in a combination of roles as School Psychologist, Special Education Administrator, and Elementary Principal. I have enjoyed my time working in St. Lawrence County, and I am thrilled to be working in a small, tight-knit, supportive community who puts children first. On a more personal level, I have been married to my husband Jarrod for 11 years. We love all things outdoors and spend our free time gardening, four wheeling, exercising, kayaking, or boating.
I deeply believe in a quality and comprehensive education for all students. I take very seriously that you have entrusted the young people of this community to our care and expect our exceptional staff to give their best day in and day out. Relationships are critical to success in schools, and I look forward to seeing positive and healthy relationships between staff and students.
My mission as your Superintendent is to maintain and grow a rigorous teaching and learning environment that provides every student with a sense of belonging, while helping students to grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially. It is critical to every student's success that they graduate from high school with the skills necessary to pursue and achieve their goals and dreams.
We are continuing to receive updates from the NYS Education Department, the Department of Health, and Governor Andrew Cuomo on re-opening procedures. This summer, I will be working with our district teams on reopening plans; which include school building logistics, busing, cafeteria procedures, health and safety protocols, online learning plans, and curriculum prioritization. We will be sending out Google forms for parent, student, and staff feedback, which will help us in our decision-making process moving forward. I know everyone is anxious to know what the school year will look like, and as soon as we have this information we will be sure to send it out to the MCS community.
I’m looking forward to the year ahead! If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to me.
