As the weather turns warmer and we move towards a busy time of the school year for events and celebrations, we’d like to send a friendly reminder to families and community members of the district’s new visitor check-in system, Singlewire. The transition from Raptor was made to help improve building security, communication, and dismissal accountability by better tracking visitors and responding to emergencies.
Singlewire offers three distinct safety initiatives: Visitor Aware, Dismissal Manager, and Safety Manager. Due to Visitor Aware, community members may notice a slight change in the check-in process next time they visit the school building. Anyone who enters the building during the day will have to check in at the main office and receive a visitor badge. Your ID will be scanned regardless of your reason for visiting. This allows staff to know who is in the building at all times, and helps to streamline entering and exiting.
Beyond changes for visitors, the system’s Dismissal Manager is designed to help staff track where each student should be after school, and who is picking them up. This system will improve communication between classrooms, the main office, and dismissal locations, so students are released safely and efficiently. The goal is to reduce confusion and improve safety during one of the busiest times of the school day.
This system’s Safety Manager will also improve safety and accountability during emergency situations by helping administrators quickly and accurately account for individuals. While this system is mostly used behind the scenes and will not require action from families, it will improve how quickly and clearly staff can share information and respond to situations, which will strengthen overall emergency preparedness.
As with any new system, there will be a learning curve, and this transition will be an adjustment for both staff and families. As we get used to this system, there may be times when check-in takes a little longer, dismissal procedures feel unfamiliar, or staff are still refining new workflows. These short-term challenges are expected and part of implementing stronger, more reliable safety tools that benefit the entire school community. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we move forward.
