The Morristown Central School District is excited to welcome back the Green Rockets Rising Before and After School Program for the 2025-26 school year.
The childcare program operates in partnership between the United Way of Northern New York (UWNNY) and MCS. The goal is to provide students with a safe setting to get their homework done and participate in other educational activities.
“Each child and family contribute to the growth and success of our program, which, in turn, positively impacts the Morristown Community,” said GRR Program Director Sue Bouchey.
This year, the GRR Program will serve children ages 4-12 in grades Pre-K through 6. The morning program will run from 6:45-7:45 a.m. and the afternoon program will run from 3:04-5:15 p.m. The program will start on Monday, Sept. 8 and will follow the MCS calendar, operating each day the school district is in session.
There are some exciting new changes to look forward to this year, including monthly themes that will guide daily programming. Planned themes are as follows:
- September: Back-to-School and All About Me
- October: Fall and Apples
- November: Gratitude, Giving Thanks, and Harvests
- December: Holidays Around the World
- January: New Beginnings
- February: Love and Kindness
- March: March Madness and Animals of Our World
- April: Earth Day, Recycling, and Our Planet
- May: Celebrating Special People
- June: Happy Endings
- Summer: TBD in collaboration with the Morristown Public Library
Students can also expect monthly community service projects tied to our themes. Program coordinators will be implementing age-appropriate groups that maintain required program ratios. Students will be split up into the following groups by grade level: Pre-K, K-1, 2-3, 4-6.
Please note that there is a revised registration form for parents/guardians to complete. Only one registration form is required to cover the year, though it will need to be updated if any changes occur. That can be found on the GRR page of the school district website, along with the Parent/Guardian Handbook that outlines information and expectations for the Program.
If you are interested in enrolling your child in the program, please review the Parent/Guardian Handbook and complete and return a Registration Form. If your child participated in the program last year or over the summer, we would love to hear your feedback! Please fill out this anonymous survey to help us guide future program initiatives.
