On May 20, Morristown Central School District residents approved the school district’s proposed $11.7 million budget for the 2025-26 school year.
The budget, which passed 135 votes to 34, represents a 1.7% increase over the current spending plan and carries a 2.38% tax levy increase. Also on the ballot was a proposition to provide additional funding to the Morristown Public Library, which passed 127 votes to 42.
"We are deeply grateful to our community for their continued support of our school,” said Superintendent of Schools Staci Vaughn. “This budget reflects our commitment to providing high-quality educational opportunities while being mindful of our fiscal responsibilities. We look forward to building on this momentum and achieving even greater success together in the years ahead."
In addition, voters were asked to elect three candidates to serve on the Morristown Central School District Board of Education. The votes were as follows:
- Joshua Hunter - 149 votes
- Kristy Simmons - 128 votes
- Lawrence Kring, III - 138 votes
Each were elected to begin a three-year term on July 1, 2025.
Kenneth Moore received two write-in votes, and Ryan Demick, David Brown, Ryan Warren, Andrea Bertrand, and Thomas McDougal all received one write-in vote each.
