Morristown Residents Approve 2024-25 Budget

MORRISTOWN, NY –

Voters in the Morristown Central School District approved the school districts proposed $11.5 million budget for the 2024-25 school year.

The budget, which passed 116 votes to 76, represents a 0.24% increase over the current spending plan. Also on the ballot were propositions to establish a Capital Reserve Fund, and to provide additional funding to the Morristown Public Library. Both propositions passed.

Superintendent Staci Vaughn said, “I am deeply grateful for your overwhelming support in passing the school budget. Your vote is a resounding affirmation of our shared commitment to providing the best possible education for our children. Thank you for investing in our community's most precious resource – our youth.”

In addition to two budget propositions, residents were also asked to elect three candidates to serve on the Morristown Central School District Board of Education. Chelsea VanArnam, Jeffrey LaJoy and Scott Ritchie were each elected to begin a three-year term on July 1, 2024.
