Athletics

What's new:

Welcome to the new MCS Athletics website!  In addition to the site, we have made a change to how student-athletes register for participating in sports.  These changes are:
1.  Student-athletes can now register to participate in sports (soccer, basketball, cheerleading, baseball, and softball) for the entire school year.  This will save families time from having to re-register for each different sports season.
2.  Student-athletes will sign up for a sport - for example - Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, etc.  The Athletic Director and coaching staff will determine the level of participation - Modified, JV, or Varsity - for each student-athlete.
3.  This will better inform District personnel in terms of the number of participants for each sports season.
4.  Student-athletes who do not take advantage of this feature can still sign up for future sports seasons if they decide to play later during the year.

Student Sports Physicals:

Student-athletes are normally required to have a valid sports physical on a yearly basis.  "Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact that it is having on our health care providers, the New York State Education Department has released a memo to provide direction to schools when students are delayed in obtaining required health exams, along with information on the required health exam form".  (You can view the memo below:)
    • Continue to accept any physical examination form conducted on or before January 30, 2021 and allow parents/guardians additional time to provide the completed exam form to the school;
    • Student athletes can participate in the fall 2020 sports season without a current health exam if they meet certain criteria; and
    • For the past two school years, the Department has encouraged schools to accept a health exam form regardless of the form it was completed on. Beginning January 31, 2021- physical examinations for school are to be documented on the NYS Required Health Examination Form or an electronic health record equivalent form."

Please contact Mrs. Thibert if you have any questions regarding sports physicals.
