Welcome to the Morristown Central School District!

July 14, 2023

Dear Morristown Central School Students, Staff, Parents, and Community Members:

Welcome back!   I hope you enjoyed a summer vacation filled with fun and exciting memories with your loved ones.  As your Superintendent, I am thrilled to welcome everyone to a new school year with many familiar staff faces and a few new ones who have joined our MCS Team.  Over the summer, there were many facility repairs completed, classroom “facelifts,” schedules and documents updated and sent out, many meals prepared, and many purchases sorted and delivered.  I also want to recognize and thank all the staff who have been working this summer in the District through Summer School programming.  This program allows our students to maintain skills, develop social connections, and access additional community resources.   The work of our staff provides the foundation for an education that is committed to maximizing our students potential and demonstrates Morristown Central School District’s desire for excellence.

Faculty, staff, and members of the administrative team have been diligently reviewing the needs of the District and students as we begin the 2023-2024 school year.  Curriculum and instruction, alongside the climate and culture of the District, continues to be at the forefront of our efforts as we reflect on goals and expectations.  We are excited to welcome back the team from Sweethearts & Heroes throughout the year as the next step to continue growing a compassionate and empathetic school community.  We will be expanding our Learn to Lead Program through the BRAVES Program, which is a K-12, self-directed student leadership system focused on student empowerment, empathy activation, and the SEL core competencies.  We are committed to providing a rigorous and content-rich learning environment, along with the promotion of self awareness and respect of one’s self and others.

I am excited to introduce the new faculty and staff members joining MCS this year.  We welcome instructional members Allysa Chambers, 7-12 Math, Anna Curtin, 7-12 French, and Camryn Chester, Kindergarten.  Our new Library Media Specialist is Pollyann Demick.  We will also welcome Joshua Carter in his new role as UPK-12 Art Teacher.  We are also excited to have Adam Zahler as our new Custodial Worker/Bus Driver and Cassandra Mattice as Custodial Worker.  They are all talented professionals that we are confident will be exceptional new members of our Rockets team as they embark on their new careers at MCS!

I deeply believe in a quality and comprehensive education for all students.  I take very seriously that you have entrusted the young people of this community to our care and expect our exceptional staff to give their best day in and day out.  Relationships are critical to success in schools, and I look forward to seeing positive and healthy relationships between staff and students.

My mission as your Superintendent is to maintain and grow a rigorous teaching and learning environment that provides every student with a sense of belonging, while helping students to grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially.  It is critical to every student's success that they graduate from high school with the skills necessary to pursue and achieve their goals and dreams.

I’m looking forward to the year ahead!  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to me.

Sincerely,

Staci A. Vaughn
